Rug Fit Planner is a free planning tool for comparing rectangular rugs with the room and furniture measurements you enter. Use its results as practical estimates when considering a rug.

What a result means

A rug marked as meeting your targets satisfies the planner's geometric checks for the inputs and layout selected. It is not a guarantee of physical fit, comfort, appearance or suitability for a particular product or room.

The calculations use simplified rectangles and explicit placement assumptions. Dining rugs are centered on the table; living-room rugs cover the entire measured seating footprint; bedroom rugs cover the whole bed with the rug's head edge aligned to the bed's head. The measuring guide and calculation method explain these assumptions.

Allowance and floor-border defaults are adjustable starting points. They do not establish required walking space or account for door swings, vents, rug thickness, furniture movement, irregular walls or objects outside the measured footprint.

Check before purchasing

Confirm your measurements and the seller's actual product dimensions. Common size labels are nominal and individual products may differ. Tape out the proposed rug outline and test chairs, doors and walking routes before ordering.

The smallest listed size that meets your targets is a comparison result, not an endorsement of a particular rug or seller. The tool does not verify stock, product quality, delivery or return terms.

Saved and shared plans

You may copy, print or share the measurements generated for your own planning. Check a saved plan against the current room arrangement before relying on it. Anyone with a complete shared-plan link can view its included measurements, as explained on the privacy page.

The planner and its content may be updated. Continuous availability and error-free results are not guaranteed. If a result conflicts with your measurements in the room, recheck the inputs and use the actual room and product dimensions to make your decision.
